Handmade bracelets
Large butterfly bracelet
A huge, beautiful butterfly brass bracelet.
Dimensions and materials
The cuff is 18.5 cm long and 11cm at it's broadest part (7.3 by 4.2 inches approximately). The bracelet has one of my macro butterfly image transferred onto the brass base. The base was then handsawn.
Happy fish bracelet
A happy looking fish to adorn your arm.
Dimensions and materials
The happy fish part of the bracelet is an image transfer onto brass covered in tuquoise and white polymer clay. This focal part measures 6 by 2.4cm (2.4 by .9") and sits snugly onto the wrist. The front of the bracelet fastens onto the wrist with leather cord and closes with a sterling silver hook. Making it easy to open and close with one hand.
Manufacturing technique
The first step is to form the brass into the correct shape to fit comfortably onto the wrist. Next the image transfer is applied and after that the polymer clay. After baking the clay the piece is wet sanded and polished for a satin finish.
After sanding and baking an additional three coats of varnish was baked onto the image transfer to protect it from scratches.
The beads on this piece was also handmade by Tangentine.
Inspiration
The fish design was inspired by a pot I saw in a museum. I think the piece came from Mesopotamia. I like blue and white together and the color scheme always reminds me of a pretty village we once visited in Tunisia.
This piece forms part of Tangentine's ancient inspiration range and I refer to it as one of my symphatetic magic pieces. The believe that many proto-history cultures held where a depiction of an animal imbues they're characteristics onto the wearer. At the very least it reminds me of happy fish swimming in the sea.
Blue striped bracelet
Turquoise and brown striped bracelet made from polymer clay, hand sanded and polished to a satin lustre.
Dimensions and materials
The bracelet was made with polymer clay and has an inside diameter of 6.5cm (2.6") and the inside measures approximately 20.5cm (8.1"). It's suitable for people with largish hands.
Inspiration
I was playing around with this colour scheme.
